FSU Student Chapter Receives MCAA's First Student Chapter of the Year Award

L. to R. - MCAA Executive Vice President and CEO John Gentille, Chapter President Joe Parker, and MSCA Executive Director Barbara Dolim

In late March, John Gentille, Executive Vice President and CEO of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America, Mechanical Service Contractors of America's Marketing Committee and staff traveled to the campus of Ferris State University to present MCAA's first Student Chapter of the Year Award. The Greater Michigan MSCA's Ferris State University Student Chapter received this tremendous award for their activities as representatives of MSCA and MCAA.

MCAA's Career Development Committee (CDC) selected the Greater Michigan MSCA Student Chapter, at Ferris State University, as the very first MCAA "Student Chapter of the Year". CDC Chairman Bill Bianco noted that the chapter has a "high degree of organization, a superb relationship with the local service contractor community, the local MCA and . . its communications media, outreach and its can-do spirit, can truly serve as models for our other existing and future student chapters."

Presented by John Gentille, the students showed great pride at their accomplishments as he listed the other MCAA Chapters they beat out like, Texas A&M, Purdue, Iowa State, Nebraska, etc. Needless to say, that comment was the icing on the cake for the Chapter.

MSCA Executive Director Barbara Dolim read from a letter from MSCA Board of Managers President Don Batz congratulating the students and stating the organization's pride in their accomplishments.

When the decision was made to outreach to the Ferris State University (FSU) Students, we could not have imagined the extraordinary project it would become. At last year's graduation, approximately 70% of the graduating class went to a MSCA or MCAA Contractor, statewide or nationally.

The Greater Michigan MSCA is tremendously pleased with the students' efforts in this
chapter and share in their pride of this award.

"We are now in the fourth full year of the Chapter, stated GM MSCA President Sandra Miller, who also serves as Chapter Advisor. Each year the Chapter has increased the number of activities and the projects of the organization. "It has been a successful and worthwhile program, both professionally, and personally for our organization. "
