FSU Chapter Tours Grand Rapids Post Office Installation
 

The Ferris State University Student Chapter recently toured the Grand Rapids Post Office Building renovation by Holwerda-Huizinga, Inc.

The tour was organized by the Chapter's Contractor Advisor Russ Borst, who is Vice President of Service with Holwerda Huizinga, Inc.



The Project involved a complete boiler change out and installation of a completely new Honeywell EXL5000 PDC Control System.

The tour was conducted by Tom Maguire, a staff member of the Post Office's Maintenance Department. Mr Maguire, is also a Ferris State University Alumni.

During the course of the tour students were given the opportunity to ask questions, examine the installation, tour the working post office upstairs, as the employees were sorting mail to see the difference the installation was making.

Tours of this type gives the students an excellant opportunity to see the types of projects they are studying about in action. Outings for the upcoming winter session include: a tour of a service contractor's office, and an additional jobsite tour in the Spring.

   
  Chapter Begins Educational Program Planning for New Year
  Greater Michigan MSCA's Educational Committee is in the process of finalizing the training agenda for the upcoming year. The program is divided into four parts: Contractor Education, Service Manager Education, Service Technician Education and HVACR Apprentice special Educational Programs. The specialized programs are an effort by the Greater Michigan PMC to answer the needs of all divisions of the organization. Committee Chairman Keven Birk of Boone & Darr, Inc., is striving to have the program outlined by February.
   
  Past President Belanger Honored
   
 

Ed Belanger, II, the immediate Past President of the MSCA's Ferris State University Student Chapter was honored at a recent membership meeting for the tremendous amount of time and effort he has put into the Chapter.

Ed was the first President of the organizaton. Through his dedication and the dedication of numerous individuals on the Chapter Board and membership, the Chapter has been taken to tremendous heights. President Kevin Dettling presented Ed with a Past President plaque at the Chapter meeting, thanking him for the tremendous time and energy he had put into the Chapter in its formative years.

   
  First Membership Drive A Success
   
 

The first membership drive for the FSU Student Chapter's 1999-2000 school year was a terrific success.

The meeting featured reports by the members who attended the MSCA Nationall Conference. Chapter members present discussed their internship during the past summer, and the jobs that they will be going into after graduation. Chapter Advisor Sandra Miller also reviewed the benefits of membership in the Chapter.
